To
celebrate the King's imminent return from the crusades, Harry instructs Blackadder
to organise an evening of traditional entertainment. The supreme commander of
the King's army, Lord Dougal McAngus, arrives home early and is awarded Blackadder's
Scottish lands as a reward for his bravery in battle. Blackadder hatches
a plot for McAngus to be stabbed on stage during the entertainment, but changes
his mind when McAngus offers him documents which suggest that Harry is illegitimate.
Is this a chance for Edmund to remove an obstacle between him and the succession
... Review:I felt this was probably the weakest episode of
this series, with an overcomplex plot, with just too many twists and turns; mostly
it just wasn't very funny. Harry is excellent in his total failure to feel threatened
by Edmund, whose ambition is just too obvious. However, the climax is a
moment to savour, as the truth comes out; it almost justified the slow build up! Credits:
