Sir
Walter Raleigh is home from his epic voyage and the everyone in the kingdom is
celebrating - everyone, that is, except Blackadder. Goaded on by Sir Walter,
and with the Queen promising to marry him if he succeeds, Blackadder vows to sail
around the Cape of Good Hope, a journey so dangerous that it spells almost certain
death. Things start badly when it becomes clear that Redbeard Rum, their
captain, is barking mad, and Edmund's cunning plan goes badly wrong. Review:This
one has its moments, but relies too heavily on Tom Baker's rabid performance as
Redbeard rum. The beginning and end of the episode are well written and very funny,
but, for me, the centre section drags, with BBC meanness confining a world cruise
to one cabin. Not even Blackadder can make that entirely convincing. Credits:
